Mandibular Advancement Devices vs Tongue Stabilizing Devices
Both Mandibular Advancement Devices and Tongue Stabilizing Devices are effective in stopping snoring, but work in slightly different ways. Snoring happens when the soft tissue in the back of your throat vibrates as air passes though your throat. Both MAD’s and TSD’s prevent snoring by separating the tongue and other soft tissue in the throat.
How to choose
Before you choose between a mandibular advancement mouthpiece and tongue stabilizing mouthpiece talk to your doctor about which is right for you. Most people will tell you to try one of each and see which style works best but some conditions and sleepers prefer specific models.
How long does a snoring mouthpieces last?
Judging how long an anti snoring mouthpiece will last is tough as there are many factors. In our experience models made of harder material tend to last longer than softer plastics. Overtime flexibility and structure begin to deteriorate and while most of the most popular brands have 1 year warranties it is a good idea to get a new model every few years.
